Ecclesiastes 3 9-13

  • 9. What does the worker gain from his toil?
  • 10.I have seen the burden God has laid on men.
  • 11.He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
  • 12. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.
  • 13. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil--this is the gift of God.

As some industries struggle in this sluggish economy, direct or home-based marketing seems to be flourishing. It’s called network marketing and those who are doing it say it is recession-proof.

Jeanne Lorin knows about the pressure to earn a paycheck.

“With the economy the way it is, it’s really a great time for women to truly look into all their options and this is an incredible option for them,” she said.

Lorin is talking about “ Beauty Society.”She launched the company three years ago and now 1,200 women are selling her skin care line.

“Women are making thousands and thousands of dollars a month. They own their own business,” said Lorin.

She said that generating an immediate income is possible with a home-based business.

Natalie Gauci is helping Elizabeth Berry grow her business with Arbonne International. It’s another skin care company that allows women to launch a business with a few hundred dollars.

“There is no glass ceiling. The more someone puts in, the more they’re going to get out of it. Our top income earners get an average of a quarter of a million a year,” said Gauci.

With dedication and goal-setting, Gauci has created a life around her family and she doesn’t have to worry about a pink slip.

“It has offered me the ability to be home with my kids. It’s allowed my husband to retire from his hi-tech corporate sales job in his late 30s,” she said.

What Is Network Marketing And How Does It Work?

February 23, 2009 – 1:30 pm

http://ratemortgageworld.com/uncategorized/what-is-network-marketing-and-how-does-it-work/

Making money online often gets the bad reputation of being a scam. People think that no matter what the offer says or how successful the creator of the program has been it is always a scam! While it is true that there are a lot of Internet scams out there, there are some good programs and opportunities as well. One of the best ways to earn a steady income online is through network marketing. If you are interested in an online business opportunity then you may want to consider this type of online marketing. It will allow you to focus on the consumer by providing the best products and working hard.

So you are probably wondering what network marketing is exactly? The concept can be viewed in a few different ways. It is truly all about sales. In order to be successful you will have to understand online products and know which ones are popular and in high demand. You will invest a small amount of money towards your products and then you will advertise like crazy! Through determination you can earn a steady and substantial income. You will be at a great advantage in network marketing if you have some marketing experience, whether it is online or out in the work force. Having previous knowledge will help you make better decisions on products and advertising methods. When you begin, chances are you will be approached by either of these two methods. The first is just simply multi level marketing, which can be referred to as a recommendation or a soft sale. You will offer sensibly priced products, which will have a quick turn over time. This is the gentler method to network marketing.

The other style is through direct sales companies. While the multi level marketing will work for you and provide a residual income, this method will have less residual income and require a lot of work. These companies offer higher priced items that are usually only for a limited time. Because of this youwill earn a higher payment from the sales. However, if you stop working, you income will stop flowing. This is where affiliate programs come into play, so make sure you are up for the “salesperson” role before you decide on this path. In this business all you really have to remember is the word “network.” Many affiliate programs will try and push you in the wrong direction because they forget that marketing is about people. Your main goal will be to collect customers for your products or services you have chosen. In return you will then help them with their marketing businesses and the chain will continue.

Network marketing can eventually provide you with a steady income, but the keyword there is eventually. You have to remember that none of this can be accomplished overnight! You will need to give yourself at least four to five years to really get the hang of the system and to find your best markets. You have to remember as well that you will need to dedicate a good amount of yourweek to the program anywhere from ten to twenty hours. Since success may take a while to come around, you’ll have to fit these hours into the time you are not working at your day job! Your success and failure in the network marketing business will rise and fall with you! If you are determined and think you have the time and commitment to make this business work for you, then go for it!

Refuse To Join The Recession Website Launched

Reported by: Lynn Giroud
Photographed By: Jason Garrison
Last Update: 2/17 12:43 am

All of the economic news seems to be bad news these days, but Trace Trajano, a Procter and Gamble engineer, says it doesn't have to be.

"A lot of it is a mindset, so if you think there's a recession, then there is, you know, if you believe there is then there is a recession," says Trajano.

Trajano, who dabbles in real estate investing as well, says you can refuse to join the downward economic slide. In fact, he's started a website: refusetojoinrecession.com.

"And it's good to share those stories, techniques, tips and strategies that, those people who are succeeding in these different markets, investment types, different asset types or businesses, it's good to get them to share their stories so people will learn what's out there and how can they profit," says Trajano.

Mark Gomer, who used to own a dog training academy, has shared his success story on Trajano's website. "Everybody's in the same boat right now and that boat's sinking, so we got to get out of that boat," says Gomer.

Gomer says his business dwindled as the economy worsened.

"People use their extra money to train their dogs, that's what they look at dog training is, as extra, so when people started to look at putting gas in gas tanks and worried about how they're gonna pay their bills and put food on the table, the first thing that would go is something extra," says Gomer.

Now, Gomer says, his Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing firm is creating wealth for a lot of people.

"We've created teams of business owners that use the same products, services, the same companies they use already anyway. Because all those companies out there are partnering with this company, dumping their advertising dollars and residuals they were paying out anyway into this company for us," explains Gomer.

Gomer's business partner is Tom Hammons, a retired school teacher who's watched his commercial real estate ventures deteriorate over the past few years.

"I'd say more than anything what we're selling is hope that you can make something good happen" says Hammons.

Hope is what we need a lot of right now as the jobless rate rises, and so many are losing their homes.

But even in this depressed housing market, mortgage broker Greg Updegrove says he's doing better than ever. He chalks that up to good old-fashioned customer service.

"By being an advisor and not a salesperson, by cultivating and developing trust and confidence, my clients come back to me again and again," says Updegrove, who's a broker with Mortgage House of America.

He has shared his success story on the refuse to join the recession website, along with 160 others so far.

"You have a choice" says Trajano. "You have a choice right now to do something with your life and to think not just positive thoughts, but empowering thoughts, because there are ways to make money even during hard times."

People turn to “network marketing” in soft economy

By Chris Pollone

Reporter
Published: February 17, 2009

http://www.nbc13.com/vtm/news/local/article/people_turn_to_network_marketing_in_soft_economy/59952/

BIRMINGHAM, Ala—While her husband was searching for full time work, Jennifer Grissom of Birmingham decided to make a little money on the side on top of her full-time job.

“I had to find some way to get an extra line of income that worked in the hours I had available to me,” she said.

Since November, Jennifer’s been selling skin care products for Arbonne International.

The company relies on a network of sales consultants who recruit other people to sell the product as well.

The more people a sales consultant recruits, the bigger her potential earnings are.

It might sound like a pyramid scheme to some, but marketing experts say it’s not.

“These are legitimate businesses, though you want to make sure you’re working for a good business, always,” Dr. Betsy Holloway of Samford University’s Brock School of Business said.

It’s called “network marketing” or “multi-level marketing” (MLM) and it’s been around for decades.

Companies like Amway, The Pampered Chef, and Tupperware work under similar arrangements.

Doctor Holloway said direct retail like this has been growing for a decade, and there’s potential for it to get even bigger.

“I think in today’s economy with the layoffs that we have and people desperate to find work, there’s going to be increased demand in these sorts of opportunities.”

Jennifer Grissom said she had to overcome a preconceived stigma of network marketing and the fear of rejection we all have.

“It’s not easy, but it is simple,” Grissom said. “You just have to be able to understand it, and be enthusiastic, without being annoying.”

She’s exceeding her expectations just three months after starting.

Experts advise if someone wants you to join a network marketing opportunity, take time to research the company.

Check to see if it belongs to the Direct Selling Association, a group that holds companies to strict standards of operation.

They say that can help ensure you’re joining a legitimate business, and not signing up for a risky scheme.

Realtor’s and Lender’s Joining Fortune Hi Tech Marketing

Realtor’s and Lender’s Joining Fortune Hi Tech Marketing

Posted on 14. Feb, 2009 by admin in Technology

tech
Sherri Russell asked:

Who is the largest base of new representatives to join Fortune Hi Tech Marketing? Realtor’s and current or former lenders as the sagging home and mortgage industry continues to plaque the US economy.

On a recent new Fortune HI Tech Marketing representative meeting, the room was packed with realtor’s and lenders. In fact, the meeting was help in office space leased by a realtor and the group continues to meet there weekly.

A realtor friend, sense joining just 2 weeks ago has signed up 9 new realtor’s and lenders. “I am experiencing a 80% closure rate” says Jane McGegor of Coldwell Banker.

Why realtor’s and lenders?

“The sagging home and mortgage crisis has griped the US and especially the Michigan housing and mortgage markets”, said Sherri Russell of Fortune Hi Tech Marketing.

Many of these new Fortune reps feel that Fortune Hi Tech Marketing is the difference between putting food on their tables and staying out of foreclosure themselves.

The Fortune Hi Tech Marketing opportunity, and the fact that reps can sell more than 1 or 2 products makes a big difference when choosing a home based business, couple that with the fact that you are selling name brand products such as Dish Network, Sprint/Nextel, Verizon Wireless, Travelocity, GE Home Security to name a few.

“Another benefit is that we are not selling the next lotion, potion or pill. We are selling services that everyone uses in his or her own home or business such as cable TV connections, VOIP (voice over Internet portals) for home and business lines, Internet connections, cell phones, security systems, health and beauty products,” added Sherri Russell.

When potential Fortune reps actually sit down and spend 20 minutes and review the Fortune Hi Tech Marketing business presentation video and see what products are offered and realize just how many households and businesses utilize simple everyday services such as the Internet, phones and cable TV, it turns into a no brainer.

With Fortune Hi Tech Marketing, you can get paid to sign up new Fortune Reps and make a residual income for each new service that you sell as long as the customer continues to pay his or her monthly bill.

“Jane is on track to supplement, at least for now, her real estate commissions and can replace her real estate commissions in the next month or two at her current pace”, says Sherri Russell.

If you are a realtor and lender seeking to add an additional income to supplement your sagging real estate or lender commissions, we encourage you to spend the same 20 minutes that these successful realtor’s and lenders did and review our online business presentation or call Sherri Russell for a personal one on one presentation.

Sherri can be reached by submitting our contact form at Fortune Hi Tech Marketing Business Opportunity.

The Residual Income Stories

Friday, February 13, 2009

http://urownbusiness.blogspot.com/2009/02/residual-income-stories.html

Residual income, or income that comes in repeatedly based on work previously done, has changed many lives in network marketing, affiliate marketing, and other ventures that can create residual income. The individuals that build a significant income through residual methods.

In my opinion, the most powerful way anyone can build a residual income is through network marketing. There have been success story after success story of people who have created great lives from less than desirable circumstances.

The first one that comes to mind is the story of my mentor. He was broke, out of work, and struggling just to make ends meet. His house was about to be foreclosed on and he was having to go apply for food stamps just to keep his family fed.

Knowing this was not the life he wanted to live, he made a decision and started working a network marketing company. Within two years he had build a six figure residual income. Excited about his success, he took his family on vacation after vacation, not working the business as hard as he did in the first two years. After he finally came off of vacation, his income had grown by over 50%.

He is an example of a residual income that can grow due to work done at the beginning.

I am also reminded of friend of mine from Oklahoma. He was in college, broke, had no electricity at his place, and his car was repossessed. He latched on to a network marketing company and before he was 25 built a residual income just under the six figure mark.

One of my biggest indirect mentors in the network marketing industry is an example of a person who works hard and builds the type of residual income many others only dream of.

He was in various forms of sales throughout the years and never had amazing success. He started with a network marketing company and decided to work hard. He made himself a success in just under two years. However, he wanted more. He continued to work the business and eventually created a residual income that made him over a million dollars in a year.

There are many other stories of people I have come to know that are living the life of their dreams due to their residual income through network marketing. If you can work hard and believe in your success, you can build a residual income just like they did!

How Network Marketing and MLM Have Changed in the Last 20 Years

http://rubyfans.net/

The way we do many things has changed in the last 20 years, and the way we build and grow our network marketing and MLM business is no exception. Expanding technology has given us the ability to reach many more home business seekers than ever before.

Home based business startups are on the rise. Working and making money from home is no longer a privilege reserved for a select few. Opportunity abounds today for anyone willing to take a chance and make a commitment.

One thing that has changed dramatically in network marketing and MLM is the ability of anyone to be introduced to multiple opportunities in a very short period of time. This has presented challenges for all of us who work hard to build strong and successful businesses.

For example, 20 years ago the MLM and network marketing world consisted mostly of local groups which were typically built around in-home meetings and presentations. Larger MLM upline organizations often rented hotel meeting rooms to conduct presentations and training for local distributors and prospects.

In that day, a person signing up had a reasonable chance of staying focused, and feeling a part of something. The local meetings and get-togethers, while sometime inconvenient, did serve a purpose. They helped to build a cohesiveness and loyalty in that group. The odds of being quickly tempted into some other deal in those days was less.

Fast forward to 2009. With modern technology that delivers recruiting pitches online 24 hours a day, it’s more difficult for new network marketing distributors to stay focused during the early stages of their business.

Unless there is a strong relationship between the new distributor and their sponsor, it can be very easy to get distracted and move to something else. If there is not enough profit made early on to provide encouragement and momentum, it can serve as justification for moving to something else before anything much has a chance to happen.

When else in time has it been possible for a prospect to sign up with us, then be bombarded with pitches for other deals constantly from that day forward, just by being online?

As network marketing sponsors, what does this mean to us? It means we have to make the effort to develop a good relationship with our new downline team members early on. We need to help them start making money as quickly as possible.

This can be a bit more challenging when the new associate lives hundreds of miles away. Challenging, but still doable.

In 2009, let’s all remember one of the major keys to success in network marketing and MLM - developing relationships and friendships. This has always been important, but these days it is really crucial. Our new associates have lots of choices and it’s very easy for them to get information on demand.

Let’s take care of our new people and help them get started right.

Legitimate Work At Home Opportunities - The 3 Big Goldmines!

Posted by Kylon Trower | February 12, 2009 .

by Kylon Trower

There is no shortage of scams and schemes on the internet that will do nothing but waste your time and and empty your wallet. Finding legitimate work at home opportunities can be harder to find than many may think . Because of the difficulty to separate the wheat form the chaff (so to speak), I have outlined a few legitimate work at home businesses that you can get up and running very quickly and easily.

I have listed a few of the most popular that you should take a look at below:

1. MLM or Network Marketing. These opportunities allow you to promote a product or service while building a team of others to do the same. You will receive overrides and commissions on your teams sales and productivity resulting in a residual income for you and your family.

2. The Affiliate Marketing Opportunity. This unique opportunity requires that you sell the products/ services of others normally for a flat fee commission (usually between 25-75%). This is a very easy and simple way to get started in a legitimate work at home business without the need to recruit. The other side of the coin is that this solution isn’t as highly leveraged as residual income is typically not a characteristic of this business model.

3. Top Tier Direct Sales. This opportunity is somewhat new in the world of legitimate work at home opportunities. It is sometimes considered a hybrid of both Network and Affiliate Marketing. It shares the direct internet sales aspect of affiliate marketing as well as the leveraged team building advantages of Network Marketing.

Although the initial investment may be higher than other opportunities, many direct sales associates have been able to earn significant incomes in very short periods of time based on the pay structure.

Each income vehicle will cater to different segments of the market depending on social skills, time commitment and other key factors. That said, all of the above solutions can be extremely profitable and are legitimate work at home opportunities that can be started immediately.

You must be made aware that in each case above, strong sales and marketing skills are an absolute MUST to experience any level of success. A good handle on internet marketing techniques and strategies would serve you well in each of these profitable endeavors.

College Grad Jobs Finding Opportunities in MLM and Direct Sales

Posted In: Careers

Recent gollege grad students looking for a job this year don’t need a dismal report from the National Bureau of Economic Research to tell them the United States is officially suffering through a recession. They’re living it.

A recent report by the Collegiate Employment Research Institute at Michigan State paints an especially troubling picture for those who will graduate this school year.

As the job market gets worse, it affects a wider range of people as skilled workers push less-skilled workers out of the running for lower-level jobs.

The unemployment rate for college graduates is typically about half the rate of the overall population. But in October, it was up by more than half a percentage point — to 3.1 percent nationally for grads over age 25.

Where are recent college grads finding an abundance of opportunities?
“Starting a business in MLM and Direct Sales”, says Brent Vanderstelt of Fortune Hi Tech Marketing, a direct sales opportunity which offers products and services from Fortune 500 companies, such as Dish Network, Sprint, Verizon, Travelocity, GE Home Security and 20 other products.

There are many great reasons and real life experiences gained from starting any business, but MLM and direct sales offers the least expensive option.

Choosing to start a business is a step that exudes confidence, planning and optimism and requires a certain amount of skill, including networking, management, sales, time-management, planning and money management.

Even if you start a business as a part time enterprise, the simple fact that you’ve taken that step speaks volumes about you as a person. Take a look at these benefits:

Small amount of risk: There is a certain amount of inherited risk involved when you become an entrepreneur, but with a MLM or direct sales business your loses can be limited to just a few hundred dollars.

The income potential: There is no cap on how much money you can generate. In my corporate jobs, my big limitation was that regardless how hard I worked for these companies; my income was tied to a “market standard” for someone with my skills.

Residual income: I am sure that you pay your gas, your electricity, and your phone bill every single month. These are the types of services that for the most part provide an ongoing stream of residual income for these companies.

Taxes: As a small business owner you can take advantage more than 12 tax reduction strategies to lower your tax liability. Don’t think of taxes as a burden, but an opportunity to partner with the government to help your business grow.

Enjoyment: You have immiadiately have a career in MLm and direct sales. You will not have to sit through dozens of interviews with countless number of job seekers. Your can climb the corporate ladder” with your own business and make more money working for yourself than working for “the man”.

Growth: Personal growth is an area that many small business owners don’t realize they have entered. Hardly anyone is an expert in their field from the get go, so starting a business allows you to grow your skills.

Skills that you grow don’t have to be limited to your business area. You’re going to pick up other skills like public speaking, decision-making and other soft skills.

Community/Networking: You found your way to this site, which is an extended community. You can also find your way to other communities whether they are online or offline. As a small business owner you have something in common with a larger group of people.

Direct selling is a growing industry.
Sales in the U.S. have more than doubled in the last decade to more than $30 billion and are now more than $100 billion worldwide.

People from literally all walks of life, of all ages, are successful in direct sales. About 75 percent of those working in direct sales are women, 10 percent are African American, six percent are Latino and three percent are Asian, Native American or other. Many people start part-time, and later leave their other careers when direct selling becomes more lucrative.

Anyone can do it.
There are no required levels of education, experience, financial resources or physical condition.

People of all ages and from all backgrounds have succeeded in direct selling.
Direct sellers are independent contractors. You’re your own boss, which means you can:

· Work part-time or full-time - you choose when and how much you want to work.

· Set your own goals and determine yourself how to reach them.

· Earn in proportion to your own efforts. The level of success you can achieve is limited only by your willingness to work hard.

· Own a business of your own with very little or no capital investment.

· Receive training and support from an established company.

Network Marketing and the Bad Economy

January 21, 2009 by Eldon Beard

Talking about the “bad economy” is all the rage right now. Certainly, there is bad news out there. When you start seeing big companies like Circuit City shutting down and many others cutting back on locations and employees, you know everything isn’t what we’d like it to be.

You often hear that a bad economy is great for , MLM, and home business opportunities in general. Others feel just the opposite, because they reason that people cut back on expenses and are less likely to invest money to start a home business.

I believe that the current economy gives us as network marketers an outstanding opportunity. Lots of people are in fear for their jobs. Unlike the days when our grandparents worked at the same company most of their life, people now know they don’t have that level of security with their jobs. They know they could be in the next round of layoffs, or worse yet, their employer could cease to exist.

This is a great time to prospect, because people are looking for something. While they might cut back on expenses for some things, they will invest in a home business if they feel they can make money and have a future.

Find these folks and get your opportunity in front of them. Again, I emphasize, the current economic climate encourages people to find other ways to make money and secure their future. If you present the right message, many of them will listen.

7 Ways You Can Be a Better Networker

By Annalaura Brown Platinum Quality Author

If you are in network marketing, then you are well aware that in order to succeed in our industry it is crucial to be always working on yourself and to find ways that you can improve and grow your business bigger and faster. Here are seven ways in which you can be a better networker and grow a larger business.

1. Avoid hype and over simplification. How often do you read ads or see web pages that promise instant wealth or that you can recruit 50 or more people a week, or that the system builds the business for you? I see these ads everyday and they drive me crazy. To begin with the vast majority of them are hyped up and simply are not true. Yes, maybe one person got lucky, but the odds of you doing the same thing are slim to none. Furthermore, a solid networking business is build slowly and through consistent and hard work. Also, who will you attract with ads like that? People who are lazy and do not want to work. I don't know about you but an important part of being a better networker is to attract and work with serious minded and committed people and these kinds of people do not respond to hype.

2. Have integrity. This is crucial in today's world. Far too many people both in network marketing and outside of it lack integrity. Have integrity and you will stand out from the crowd and be noticed. Furthermore, what goes around comes around and having integrity will make the world a better place for you and for others.

3. Think relationships first and money second. Do not ever directly spam or solicit anyone. This is just plain bad business. Be a better networker by setting the example of how business should be done. Seek to make and form connections and relationships with other networkers. Contribute to their blog, interview them, help them, pass referrals and in short, do anything you can to help them be successful.

4. Use the law of attraction techniques and get people to come to you. Although this is best accomplished online, you can find ways to do this off line as well. Focus on offering content and value in your target market and niches and on being the person of value and worth to those with whom you share common interests and the right people will show up in your business.

5. Commit to truly help people and make a difference in the world. Network marketing is not only about making money but also about helping people and making a difference. Commit to using a portion of your time and money to help others who are struggling as well as to assist non-profit organizations and other important charitable causes.

6. Keep your obligations and commitments. In today's world too many people do not do what they say they will. They back out of their obligations and are not reliable. Be one of the few networkers who always does what they say they will.

7. Stay committed for the long term. Too many people quit after a short amount of time or when the going gets tough. Be one of those who stays in for the long haul and is determined not to quit no matter what.

Do these things and you will stand out from the crowd and attract people to you because of who you are and what you stand for. You will be a better networker and you will earn the income and the respect that goes along with it.

What is the Key to Your Success in a Home Based Business?

If there is one thing that I have learned that has put thousands a month into my pocket - it is to stay laser focused on the desired goal until it is achieved. For me, that means tuning out outside influences that would distract me from my work, or appeal to my emotions and perhaps even make me think that my goal was not worthy!

What do I mean?

Well, if you work online you no doubt have experienced information overload. You get hundreds of spam mail messages per day that you must wade through to find the gold you seek, and if you are researching how to succeed in your business – you can very quickly find yourself on a long winding ride to nowhere.

If you intend to succeed – if you KNOW you will succeed if you could just get down to what works – then please follow these instructions carefully so that you too can Succeed Online!

First and foremost, find one company and stick with it for the long haul. Unless you find yourself in a business that you truly do not like, or if you find that it’s corrupt in some way – or they go and change the comp plan – stick with your company. Do not let anyone or anything tell you that they have the better deal. The grass will always seem greener, the money will always bigger with another company. Now, you are in business for yourself and you are not ‘married’ to a company – but I’m telling you that you will get NOWHERE fast if you are a company jumper, or an mlm junkie. Do your research and find an excellent company (yes, they are out there!), and stick with it until you succeed.

You will be far more likely to succeed if you know the company and comp plan inside and out than if you leave it behind assuming it ‘didn’t work’, when in fact, you didn’t work it. Most residual millionaires have built those fortunes by building one business HUGE. They create a story for themselves, build momentum, support a team and ride off into the sunset living their life by design. That is what you want isn’t it? You are ultimately working for freedom – for the residual Income. So stick where you are. If you aren’t happy where you are- then learn more about your company – meet some of your key leaders and see why they are there. You may just find that doing so, really learning your business, is all you need in order to love where you are! You have to see the vision to work it long term. If you really hate your company- find your new home quickly, and then get down to WORK.

Now, put your blinders on. Ignore the mail that wants to tell you about the next big thing- the voicemail blasts that want to sell you the voiceblaster, the people who purchased your name and want to tell you about their deal. Ignore it COMPLETELY. It is of no use to you, it will not make you successful in your business. Do not surf the net looking for the next big thing, the magic traffic system, the automated downline builder… Don’t even go there! The internet is an energy sucker – a vampire sucking away the precious productive hours that you have to build your empire. Just STOP surfing.

Your upline leaders will share with you the tools they use. Use the system that is in place to build. If your direct sponsor is not terribly successful, go upline until you find the leader who will help you. A true leader should be able to direct you to the tools to help you to build in whatever way YOU choose. There are many ways to build and you need to find the ways that resonate with you. Whether you want to build online or offline, or both- your upline leader should be able to give you the system that works to put in new reps. Be teachable and use the system in place!

I know you are still waiting for what will put thousands in your pocket – right? The answer is – WORK. Work your business like mad to build your financial fortress. The speed of your success depends only on your level of belief and your massive action. You need to KNOW that if others are earning the big checks- you can and will as soon as you expect success. Stay laser focused and work the system. Ignore the distractions that you encounter online – don’t join another company – don’t go looking for the magic bullet. Plug into your system and WIN.

Multi-level marketing (MLM), also known as Network Marketing, is a business-distribution model that allows a parent company to market its products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and direct selling.

Independent, unsalaried salespeople of multi-level marketing, referred to as distributors (or associates, independent business owners, dealers, franchise owners, sales consultants, consultants, independent agents, etc.), represent the parent company and are awarded a commission based upon the volume of product sold through each of their independent businesses (organizations).

Independent distributors develop their organizations by either building an active customer base, who buy direct from the parent company, or by recruiting a downline of independent distributors who also build a customer base, thereby expanding the overall organization. Additionally, distributors can also earn a profit by retailing products they purchased from the parent company at wholesale price.

Distributors earn a commission based on the sales efforts of their organization, which includes their independent sale efforts as well as the leveraged sales efforts of their downline. This arrangement is similar to franchise arrangements where royalties are paid from the sales of individual franchise operations to the franchisor as well as to an area or region manager. Commissions are paid to multi-level marketing distributors according to the company’s compensation plan. There can be multiple levels of people receiving royalties from one person's sales.

[edit] Legitimacy

It is sometimes difficult to distinguish legal and reputable MLMs from illegal pyramid or Ponzi schemes. MLM businesses operate in the United States in all 50 states and in more than 100 other countries, and new businesses may use terms like "affiliate marketing" or "home-based business franchising". However, many pyramid schemes try to present themselves as legitimate MLM businesses.

In the most legitimate MLM companies, commissions are earned only on sales of the company's products or services. No money may be earned from recruiting alone ("sign-up fees"), though money earned from the sales of members recruited is one attraction of MLM arrangements. If participants are paid primarily from money received from new recruits, or if they are required to buy more product than they are likely to sell, then the company may be a pyramid or Ponzi scheme, which is illegal in most countries.

New salespeople may be asked to pay for their own training and marketing materials, or to buy a significant amount of inventory. A commonly adopted test of legality is that MLMs follow the so-called 70% rule which prevents members "inventory loading" in order to qualify for additional bonuses. The 70% rule requires participants to sell 70% of previously purchased inventory before placing new orders with the company. There are however variations in interpretations of this rule. Some attorneys insist that 70% of purchased inventory should be sold to people who are not participants in the business, while many MLM companies allow for self-consumption to be a significant part of the sales of a participant [1].

The European Union's Unfair Commercial Practices Directive explicitly includes self-consumption as legitimate[2].

In a 2004 Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Staff Advisory letter to the Direct Selling Association states:

The amount of personal consumption in any multi-level compensation business does not determine whether or not the FTC will consider the plan a pyramid scheme. The critical question for the FTC is whether the revenues that primarily support the commissions paid to all participants are generated from the purchase of goods and services that are not simply incidental to the purchase of the right to participate in a money making venture.[3]

In a 2007 Wall Street Journal interview, FTC economist Peter Vander Nat stated, "If people are buying because they want to use a company’s products, those sales can count as retail."[4]

The FTC offers advice for potential MLM members to help them identify those which are likely to be pyramid schemes.[5]

[edit] Compensation plans

Companies have devised a variety of MLM compensation plans over the decades.

  • Stairstep Breakaway plans This type of plan is characterized as having representatives who are responsible for both personal and group sales volumes. Volume is created by recruiting and by retailing product. Various discounts or rebates may be paid to group leaders and a group leader can be any representative with one or more downline recruits. Once predefined personal and/or group volumes are achieved, a representative moves up a step. This continues until the representative..."breaks away" from their upline. From that point on, the new group is no longer considered part of his...upline's group - hence they are a "breakaway". [6] Stairstep Breakaway plans are not level based.
  • Unilevel plans This type of plan is often considered the simplest of compensation plans. Uni-Level plans pay commissions primarily based on the number of levels a recipient is from the original representative who is purchasing the product. Commissions are not based on title or rank achieved. By qualifying with a minimum sales requirement, representatives earn unlimited commissions on a limited number of levels of downline recruited representatives. [6]
  • Matrix plans This type of plan is similar to a Uni-Level plan, except there is a also limited number of representatives who can be placed on the first level. Recruits beyond the maximum number of first level positions allowed are automatically placed in other downline (lower level) positions. Matrix plans often have a maximum width and depth. When all positions in a representative's downline matrix are filled (maximum width and depth is reached for all participants in a matrix), a new matrix may be started. Like Uni-Level plans, representatives in a matrix earn unlimited commissions on limited levels of volume with minimal sales quotas. [6]
  • Binary plans: A binary plan is a multilevel marketing compensation plan which allows distributors to have only two front-line distributors. If a distributor sponsors more than two distributors, the excess are placed at levels below the sponsoring distributor's front-line. This "spillover" is one of the most attractive features to new distributors since they need only sponsor two distributors to participate in the compensation plan. The primary limitation is that distributors must "balance" their two downline legs to receive commissions. Balancing legs typically requires that the number of sales from one downline leg constitute no more than a specified percentage of the distributor's total sales. [7]
  • Hybrid plans are compensation plans that are constructed using elements of more than one type of compensation plan.

[edit] Criticism of MLM

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a decision, In re. Amway Corp., in 1979 in which it indicated that multi-level marketing was not illegal per se in the United States. However, Amway was found guilty of price fixing (by requiring "independent" distributors to sell at the low price) and making exaggerated income claims.[8]

The FTC advises that multi-level marketing organizations with greater incentives for recruitment than product sales are to be viewed skeptically. The FTC also warns that the practice of getting commissions from recruiting new members is outlawed in most states as "pyramiding".[5] In April 2006, it proposed a Business Opportunity Rule intended to require all sellers of business opportunities—including MLMs—to provide enough information to enable prospective buyers to make an informed decision about their probability of earning money.

In March 2008, the FTC removed Network Marketing (MLM) companies from the proposed Business Opportunity Rule:

The revised proposal, however, would not reach multi-level marketing companies or certain companies that may have been swept inadvertently into scope of the April 2006 proposal.[9]
